About our company
Cornes Technologies USA (CTU) in San Jose, California is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cornes Technologies Limited with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Originally founded as SEOCAL, Incorporated in 1980, CTU is responsible for the sales and support of Microwave Plasma Chemical Vapor Deposition (MP-CVD) equipment and accessories used in the growth of diamond and other carbon-based materials. For decades, Seki Diamond Systems MP-CVD platforms have built a solid reputation within the university and research, aerospace and defense, gem production, and industrial sectors.  Its platforms are used by leading global materials research labs including Stanford, University of California, MIT-LL, Cardiff University, and Carnegie Institution, to name just a few.  More recently, Seki Diamond Systems products have experienced strong demand within the diamond manufacturing, semiconductor, and quantum computing research spaces.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reports to:    President

Reports:    Individual contributor role

Education:    Associate of Science (2+ years college education), 4-Year BS preferred in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or other science

Experience:   2+ Years of Chemical Vapor Deposition or Semiconductor Processing Equipment sales and support experience preferred

Location:    San Jose, CA (remote work potential after 6 months)

US Persons Required:    Due to government lab contract requirements.  No VISA sponsorship available

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Technical Inside Sales position is the perfect position for either a technical support engineer wishing to move into a sales role, or a senior-level technical sales professional with a desire to move into a non-travel role. Current team members all work in a distributed, remote-work environment. Remote or hybrid work environments will be available after 6 months on the job. 

This role represents an exciting opportunity to work on a team with the world’s most knowledgeable technologists in the areas of lab-grown diamonds and advanced carbon materials science. You’ll play a role in moving advanced technologies forward in the areas of environmentally-friendly gem production (as an alternative to mined diamonds), semiconductor research, and quantum computing.

As an Inside Technical Sales Representative you will work on a team led by a senior executive business development manager. You will be responsible for managing the responsive sales and support of Seki Diamond Systems’ MP-CVD products and related accessories, services, and equipment. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demand Generation and Lead Follow-up

•  Using your knowledge of high-pressure vacuum, microwave plasma generation and industrial control systems, you will collaborate with senior business development and outside sales team members in the promotion of Seki Diamond MP-CVD systems. 

•  You will make proactive sales calls to existing and prospective customers to generate demand and qualify leads.

•  You will follow-up on website, email and phone leads to ensure customers receive timely product information and support.

•  Under the leadership of the outside sales and business development team members, you will help to generate proposals and move customers through the selling process, from product introductions through final acceptance testing and payment.

•  You will increase customer satisfaction by handling quality issues, returns, exchanges, etc. while collaborating with Japanese engineers and field sales and business development personnel as a team.

•  You will project a positive and professional image and brand for Seki Diamond Systems and other third-party diamond products sold by Cornes Technologies USA.

 

Account and Opportunity Management

•  You will update management on the status of major opportunities using monthly reports and the company’s Sales Force CRM platform.

•  You will play a key role in building out the team’s contacts database, and in updating opportunity status and forecasting within the company’s CRM. 

•  Working with business development, outside sales and product management, you will move opportunities through the sales pipeline by creating urgency and negotiating competitive wins. 

 

Opportunity Negotiation and Processing

•  You will act as CTU and SDS’s advocate in negotiating the best possible terms with customers and suppliers.

•  You will ensure critical terms are negotiated with respect for the needs and interests of CTU’s suppliers, while ensuring customers receive the highest-level support and value for their investment.

•  You will negotiate all contracts within the legal and ethical guidelines mandated by Cornes Technologies, its affiliates and all applicable Federal, State, and local governments.

 

Order Processing

•  You will review and enter purchase orders into the company’s Order Tracking system.

•  You will work with accounting to ensure purchase orders and commercial invoices are prepared correctly and reflect the negotiated terms approved by CTU and its suppliers.

•  You will review all Diamond Product PO’s and work with accounting and export control teammates to ensure orders are accurately placed with manufacturers, in compliance with Japanese and US export control regulations.

•  You will work with U.S. Customs and freight carriers to ensure timely and accurate import clearance of goods imported or returned from overseas.

 

Tier I Technical Support

•  Utilizing your general knowledge of semiconductor equipment and facilities, you will provide first-tier, basic customer-facing technical support for Microwave Chemical Vapor Deposition (M-CVD) equipment and applications.

•  Utilizing your fundamental knowledge of electromechanical and microwave systems, you will provide verbal and written guidance on facility preparation, installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of MP-CVD systems including high-pressure vacuum pumps, high power microwave sources, power supplies, abatement, gas and chemical delivery, exhaust, and cooling systems.

•  You will escalate more complex and higher-level technical support issues to the attention of expert-level support personnel, while facilitating dialog and managing resolution to the customer’s satisfaction.

Experience:   5+ Years of Chemical Vapor Deposition, Material Sciences, and/or Semiconductor Processing Equipment

Location:    San Jose, CA preferred (remote work potential after 6 months)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

As a Systems Engineer, Diamond MP-CVD you will work on a team led by a senior business development manager. You will be responsible for managing the onsite responsive sales and support of Seki Diamond Systems’ MP-CVD products and related accessories, services, and equipment.

Systems Engineer, Diamond MP-CVD is the perfect position for either a technical sales engineer, support engineer, or systems engineer with hands-on experience configuring and operating semiconductor equipment. Experience and knowledge of vacuum systems, gas distribution, high-power microwave plasma, cooling, ventilation, and processing are essential for this role.

This role represents an exciting opportunity to work on a team with the world’s most knowledgeable technologists in the areas of lab-grown diamonds and advanced carbon materials science. You’ll move exciting technologies forward in the areas of environmentally friendly gem production (as an alternative to mined diamonds), semiconductor research, and quantum computing.

Current team members all work in a distributed, remote work environment. Remote or hybrid work environments will be available after 6 months on the job.  This position requires extensive travel of 50%+ both within the US and internationally.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Systems Support

•  Using your knowledge of high-pressure vacuum, gas distribution, cooling, microwave plasma generation and industrial control systems, you will collaborate with senior business development and sales team members in the support of Seki Diamond MP-CVD systems.

•  You will provide second tier, customer facing technical support for Microwave Chemical Vapor Deposition (MP-CVD) equipment, facilities and applications.

•  You will advise customers on the configuration of their equipment during presales engagements.

•  Working with the Seki Diamond engineering team in Japan, and CTU’s technical business development experts in the US and Europe, you will be responsible for the day-to-day onboarding of new customers and ongoing onsite product support.

•  You will provide verbal and written guidance on facility preparation, installation, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of MP-CVD systems including high pressure vacuum pumps, high power microwave sources, power supplies, abatement, gas and chemical delivery, exhaust, and cooling systems.
